Intercoms? Helmet tunes

Greetings,

I'm considering a set of helmet intercoms and am wondering what's the hot ticket now? And are there any systems that may incorporate MP3 sound or Satelite music? Also, has anyone installed one of these things and then regretted it? I've wondered if her chattering on is what I want after all. Do you lose that solitary feeling that riding affords?

Autocom's Active Smart certainly lets you plug any "music" device with a 3.5mm mini jack connector into it. This could be your iPod, CD player or whatever.

It will also let you have a mobile phone and will adjust music automatically (i.e. when you or your pillion speak or the phone rings the music switches off and when you have finished your conversation the music automatically comes back on)

I have never used Starcom, but I think it does something similar and has had good reviews (and I think it is cheaper)

Of course the very best is Sonic (who supply the Police etc) but they are far from cheap.

My advice is: shop around decide what you really need in terms of features and see if you can try someone else's before you commit!

Cheaper than Autocom and IMHO at least as good if not better in every respect.

I curently have a 2 way radio, music and my phone pluged in and there is still a socket free to plug GPS in when I finaly get round to getting one.
It,s been fitted for 20,000 odd miles so far with no problems what so ever.

The only thing I would suggest as an improvement over the standard setup is to use the open face boom mike set up even in a full face. It is possible to position the mike so the pick up from the mike is slightly better and allows clear conversation right up to very silly speeds.
