Folks,

Having some intermittent starting problems with my '09 12GSA. On occasion it really struggles to start- it turns over and tries, but takes a lot of attempts to actually start it. Then, once eventually started up, initially it if you try to rev the engine it will stall. Very gently and tentatively trying to rev it gradually gets it to normality.

Doesn't happen all the time and no particular pattern, bike can be warm'ish or cold- Strange.

So no bank robberies for the moment then pencilled in on this 'un.

Have also recently replaced the battery to ensure enough oomph.

Any ideas most appreciated?

Cheers,

I've got a 08GSA. I got that problem you descibe, but it never stalled after. Sometimes it would turn over ok, other times it just about did. I always had the battery linked up to an optimate when in the garage. Back in August the problem started to get worse, so I took it in to CW and they put another battery on. But after two months it started again. After attending a BMW Owners Club meet it just about turned over, but it got me home. I decided the next day to turn it over in the garage, which I did. Horror of horrors when I did I saw sparks coming off the lead from the battery to the solenoid/starter. I had my own fireworks. Needless to say rang CW, got the bike there new starter motor (under extended warranty) fitted. What a difference to how it starts now. Wow. Just passing the info on. I just look back and think that my trousers could have caught fire from the sparks! Well I am down to 6 lives left now. :augie
