Hi Folks,

Tried searching for this issue but to no avail - perhaps someone knows the answer.

I've tried pairing my new Interphone F4 to my Zumo mainly to listen to MP3s, and the sound quality is really dreadful - very tinny and poor. Paired initially as a headset, then tried pairing as a phone which didn't work at all - only heard static.

Then I paired the Interphone to my iPhone 3Gs and the quality is amazing.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Simon

How long have you had your F4?

What firmware version do you have? Check the sticker on the back of the BT unit, it should read "Rxxx"

I had sound quality issues between my F4 (R111) and my Zumo 660. Sent it off for an upgrade (can't tell you current version as they didn't upgrade the label ) and the sound quality is now brilliant!

You're doing nothing wrong :comfort

The Zumo 550 only transmits a bluetooth sound in Mono hence the music quality is crap whilst your iPhone transmits in Bluetooth stereo via A2DP hence the sound quality is much better

There's three ways to remedy this issue

- buy a small A2DP bluetooth transmitter and plug it into the music out socket in the Zumo 550 cradle, then pair your F4 with the transmitter NOT THE ZUMO

- buy a Zumo 660 which tranmits music via A2DP bluetooth stereo

- just use your iPhone for music!! :augie

Thanks Nick and Cogs - I've spent the whole weekend pondering this and finally worked it out at the same time as the last post!

Zumo 550 is not A2DP compliant, so will only output mono and tinny sound. I'm going to order an A2DP transmitter that plugs into the headphone socket on the 550 and hardwire the adapter so it's always charged.

Thanks again for the help!
