Hi, I have an r1250 Rallye TE and have followed the youtube guide to setting up the bluetooth, all works well with my iphone 8the, tft and Sena 10u, the only issue seem to be my Nav VI unit.

The voice direction commands and beeps when it approaches cameras are distorted, I have set the headset to pair with the nav as 2nd phone, GPS and also phone (main), but the issue still persists. the Nav VI is also connected to my iphone?

Is this because the 10U unit is not highly specified as other units such as the 20S and 30K are? or have i set it up incorrectly? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated?

Sena, Nav VI and phone are all updated with latest firmware/ software.

Thanks in advance.

I have a £45 cheapy headset and the nav is perfectly clear. So I don’t think it’s the nav or lack of spec. Try just the headset and nav alone

I did try unpairing the phone and making the Nav 6 the only thing paired to the headset but it seemed to make no difference?

I did try some bluetooth headphones with the Nav and it sounded much better.

What comms headsets are people using with their Nav 6's and getting good sound for Nav? (Also compatible with the TFT) I am considering Cardo Pactalk Bold or Sena 30k.

Regards

I have exactly the same with Sena 10R. Been told by Sena to reduce all the mixer volume bars on the Nav unit down to 45% and that should fix it. Haven't had chance to try it yet.

Mark1: I use my Nav 6 with a BTMidlandPro headset and I noticed the distorted sound too. I’ve nothing else connected to anything, just the Nav to the headset.

I was doing some static testing over the weekend (without earplugs) and found, for me, it was a volume issue. I always wear earplugs when riding so have the volume turned right up. My Zumo 550 doesn’t go quite as loud as the Nav 6 but maintains a clearer sound right up to its maximum. The Nav 6 sound is perfectly clear up to 3/4 volume then the distortion starts and at speed I can’t tell a word the bitch is saying.

There are limited “voices” available on mine (I’ll have to search for some more). I was using “British English Serena” but static testing indicates the “American English Samantha” carries a little better due to her more whiny tones. Don’t like it but I’ll give it a try. (I don’t have a preference for women’s voices, by the way, but the only male voice on my Nav that says street names is “British English James” and he sounds like a soy boy who’d be inaudible in a library).

Thanks for the replies, I do use earplugs so did increase the volume on the Nav 6, so will try lowering it. Has anyone used a Nav 6 with a Cardo Pactalk Bold or Sena 30K? as battery life on my 10U is not huge.

Yes, i have a 6 and a 30k, the sound when i first paired it was crackly and distorted.

I updated the firmware on the 30k and its as it should be, not as polished as phone to headset, there is some hissing on startup, but with music streaming its not noticable.

one big bugbear Garmin take note why cant we have polyphonic coms ?? i can get Waze to give me nav intructions over the top of my streamed music with perfect clarity.

And Tom Tom, Copilot etc... so why do you insist on cutting the music to give me an instruction??

If you wear plugs you will need to increase the volume, otherwise at 40mph+ you wont hear a thing ;)

I have the Nav V and also have a distorted sound, but only when the navigation directions start after being silent for some time. When I’m playing music on the Nav, there is a permanent sound from it in my helm and I have no distortion whatsoever, even not when the nav directions start. I have a Sena 10U in my Schuberth E1 helmet.

Blimey, my £45 fodsports ebay jobby works great. Music, nav etc. Maybe there is a Sena/nav quirk

Packtalk Bold, Samsung S8, Nav 6, TFT all pair up fine and clear as a bell on my 1250 GS since I asked A. Jeffries to update my TFT to software version 001-019-180 at the 600 mile service. I was having pairing issues so mentioned it whilst the bike was at their workshop for the running in service. No problem they said take out one of our demo bikes and see you in 4 hours. Free 1st Service was negotiated with Simon (the sales manager, top guy, knowledgable, friendly, will be flexible) when I placed placed my order for the bike. Can't ask for any more than that. Pleased with bike, everything working as it should.... So far so good, no unusual noises but
I am a bit deaf, looks like I may have just got a BMW that was made mid week instead Friday afternoon. We will see as the miles rack up.

:thumbTried the Bluetooth , went back to wires as it just works and sound quality is perfect . May not be helpful but got rid of the Bluetooth gear purely for that reason.

I reduced the volume on the Nav 6 to approx 50% and also the mixer level and the sound quality has dramatically improved, no apparent distortion and audible, not been out on the road to try it yet though so hoping it is loud enough to be heard whilst wearing my custom moulded ear plugs.
