Interphone F5 on Shoei Neotec

I'm thinking of getting a Shoei Neotec, and will install my F5MC on it. Does anyone have the same setup, and did you have any issues? Have you stuck the controller on the outside, or can it be attached with the screw clamp?

The other alternative is the GT Air, but I'd prefer a flip front lid.

Have fitted it perfect to the GT air, i know they also do a specific head set for it that fit flush in the ear holes, but my Mrs has not complained as yet so i wont bother. Was much easier to use the sticky mount over the clamp. as the gap is very tight.

Yes I've got the Neotec with F5. I stuck the control unit on rather than bolt on as I didn't like the way the screw mount hung lower than the lower edge of the helmet. I haven't managed to get the joint in the wiring ( left to right speaker) into a perfect position as its quite big and won't fit properly (flush) into the grooves in the polystyrene lining.

The boom mike can be a little annoying as you have to move it against your lips when you drop the front of the helmet otherwise it bends down under your chin. After a while the boom foam against my lips starts to piss me off but I can't get my fingers in there to pull it forward so I end up trying to push it away with my lips ( like a baboon).

TBH I generally ride with the flip front up and just the sun visor down which feels great. Strangley the helmet is a lot quieter flipped up.

Good to know. I really fancy a flip front, but the boom mic is what's holding me back. I tried it on a Schuberth, and it was a faff. I wonder if the fixed mic could be attached, with an extended cord that tucks into the helmet when the flip is down, then goes taught when it is up?

Re the wiring, couldn't you slice a bit of the polystyrene to get a flush fit? And is there any interference on the mic with the flip up, or is it noise cancelling?

Not sure about the fixed mic, I think the cord would get caught in the closing mechanism, I'll take a look tomorrow and see if it's feasible.

To be honest I could just press the connection into the polystyrene and put some tape over it to hold it. I can't really feel it in normal use but I know it's there and if I apply pressure I can feel it on the back of my head. I can just imagine, if the worst happened, them looking at the back of my skull and saying " whys he got wires hanging out of the back of his head ? "

The mic must be noise cancelling as I can't here them before they can't here me, if you know what I mean. When I had my RT with a big Calsci screen on it I could converse well beyond the legal limit. My KTM screen is not so protective and at anything over 60 (this apples to the Neotec and my Hornet) I can't here a thing. Ears are shot though !

I have a NEOTEC and the f5xt kit fitted, i stuck the controller on the outside with the sticky attach and instead of the boom mike I used the small sticky back mike pad and placed the mike on the end of front face of the cheek pad.

I also have a C3pro with the same Interphone kit and a boom mike and find it absolutely fine to close the lid down.

Good to know mate. That sounds ideal, as the boom mic would do my head in.
