I found clearance easy to abuse on the road two-up before I fitted my Wilburs Shock and had the forks re-worked by MCT, but since that work it has become nigh on impossible to deck out two-up and I have loads of clearance solo - after reading this I now quite fancy a track day.
I wonder what tyres matey was on, I reckon with a pair of Roadsmart 2's I would be fairly happy on a twisty track as long as I chilled out down the straights, although with my de-catted headers and ECU Flash I should have good bit more punt down the straights than the stock bike, but probably still not enough to keep anything other than a badly ridden ageing 600 behind.
