BTBR GSA Bash Plate Extension

NOTE: ONLY SUITABLE FOR FITMENT TO THE GSA

Made of 5mm aluminium plate, it bolts to the top of the sump guard and stops all the crap from the front wheel spraying up the front on the engine casing.

It also stops the exhaust-connecting pipe getting pitted with tar spots etc, thus keeping your pride and joy nice and clean.

Saw it today, looks good. So why bother spending dosh on a fenda extender, when you can buy an item that does the job.

BTBR means IMMACULATE. nice & clean would be an understatement.

FOC, thats FOC for you to copy, and not FOC for me to supply it in case there is any confusion!!! Thats why I have attached the drawing!

I was thinking about making some and selling them, but to be honest I cannot be arsed.

So rather than sit on the proven and road tested design, I have decided to post it on here for all to see and download.

So help yourself chaps, unless someone copies 'my' design and then markets it, then I won't be very happy!!!

However, what would be nice is if those that copy the design maybe put a few pence (pounds) towards the T.I.T.S. fund here?

Erm, I think it's already been done by Kilda2004. Very similar concept but mounts on the Adv engine bar cross brace and the sump guard. It works too. Below is mine coated with crud from the Picos in March this year.

I agree and I am also well aware that there are lots of similar designs around, that all basically do the same job.

As for the Kilda2004 design, great idea but not everyone has OE crash bars.

But the differance is, I have put my design and detailed drawing on the forum for others to share my knowledge and also to copy for free is so desired.

Good idea, and nicely made piece of kit, but you don't need the 20 and 13 dims on the front view, if you want to put them on, then put them on as (REF) dimensions. Or you could help everyone even more by doing a developed view.


Only kidding....again, good idea, and well made, thanks for sharing.

Got some made from 4mm Stainless Steel.

Here is mine fitted, Touratech sticker was my option, more BLING!!

They fit using 2 stainless steel button head bolts.

Very simple to fit, you only need to drill 2 6mm holes.

Shortly after I bought my 2003 R1150 GS Adventure, I bought a Fenda Extenda which I later returned and instead decided to make a mud/stone guard for my Adventure that was cheaper, more elegant, simple and functional...IMO. Made from an 8" x 8" (then trimmed and bent) sheet of 0.025" stainless steel.

The section that "hangs over" the engine protection cross bar was rolled for a 1/2" radius. The photo shows closed cell foam tape between the cross bar and mud/stone guard, but that was replaced by an 8" long section of thin wall (3/4" ID, 1" OD) black rubber/vinyl washer hose that was slipped over the cross bar for a non-metal-to-metal, rattle-free installation.

The BMW engine protection plate was drilled and tapped for two M6 fasteners with fiber washers used under the heads of the fasteners as well as between the guard and engine protection plate. Loctite 242 was used to secure the fasteners.

Brill idea. Thanks v. muchly for the drawing and the idea! I found some checker plate lounging about the shed, used the drawing, and knocked this crap together.
