Invest in a cask of whisky

Nice wee video about the place... :thumb2

Are you thinking of getting a syndicate going again?

10 years too long to wait! especially for you fossils

Anybody looked at the T&C's? Do the quoted prices include the wood, 10 years storage and insurance because if they don't the price looks very steep.

e.g. mid-range hogshead; 255 litres typically put to cask at 63.5%abv = 161.9 L/Alc (litres pure ethanol, the usual trading unit for whisky). £2800/161.9 = £17.29/L/Alc for new fill. Most casks are changing hands at the moment, granted within the trade, for £3 - £4 per RLA/year (regauged litres of alcohol x number of years matured).

Hadn't got to t's and c's, more of a concept stage but thanks for advice. Always on the lookout!

Don't forget the 3 to 4 % evaporation each year. The angel's share.

Looks like it does.

£10 per litre + duty when you have it bottled doesn't sound cheap for an unknown, it is a good business plan though from there point of view as they can get it sold now and get some money in.

To be fair the duty is the duty irrespective of how good the spirit is. A bottle of 70cl 40% drain cleaner £12.00 from Tesco's carries duty of £7.90 +20% VAT on that as well. A collectors bottle of 50year old single malt at the same size and strength costing £2,000 only carries the same duty & VAT on the duty.
