I've arrived back home from this year's TT where I took my 2013 Plate GS TE.....what an event and what a great bike to take.

Normally I'd go on my '05 Ducati 999 but it'll be the GS from now on when off to the IoM. It was so useable across all the island's various terrains (plush shell-gripped tarmac to crap-hole dirt tracks) and it hooned over the mountain course with the best of them.

On the downside the weather was sh*t but the GS's fairings kept the worst of the spray at bay.

Welcome home,

The Isle of Man TT is still on my bucket list. Never been.

Ah, a regular!
Ain't been in years on a bike, planning Dad and Lad trip for next year with my '16 GSA and '94 FZR Exup
Just booked the ferry 3-7 June 2018 (Sun to Thurs) and they were the ONLY dates available.
Now I need accommodation - Booking.com? All full up already :(
Any recommendations?
Sounds like you had a grin.
Can we bunk in with you?
:)

Air bandb or some local short term rental maybe. I would image a lot of locals would go away that week to get away from the madness.

Unfortunately we are full up with 3 of us in a 2 bed bungalow so we draw straws to see who gets the sofa.

My experience is the ferry is the easy part, with accom being the most difficult.

Check out Isle of Man TT home stay website for offerings where you can get a complete house to yourself or be a guest with the owners. I've done both and never had issues.

I agree.....and it's actually easier to find a house for half a dozen people for two weeks, than it is to find a room for one bloke for five nights....

This year, flights were readily available right through practise/race weeks.....Accommodation to fit in WITH YOUR DATES was a pain.....Athough a number of places (on Homestay web site) were advertising 'Availability for both weeks' they wouldn't let you book for less than seven or more nights. They had two weeks available but if you wanted just seven nights, they expected you to pay for the full two weeks.

At last year's TT, a taxi driver told me that he makes a reasonable living throughout the year. He added that the money he earns in the TT weeks is enough to buy him and his Mrs a decent cruise every year.

Supply/Demand.....I have no problem with it.....But I think my 'demand' has flown....:)
