IOR Valdada 7 x 40 military binoculars. I bought these as unused, new, old stock about 15 years ago when I was getting into deer stalking having been underwhelmed with a couple of pairs of 'budget' bins. At the time they were relatively unknown but I had heard good things about IOR via snipers hide and subsequently bought an IOR tactical scope and despite being a bit of a chunk it was noticeably optically superior to the Nightforce and Schmidt and Bender scopes I had so took a punt on these. I believe they use Schott glass (Zeiss). They now have a bit of a cult following by those who've tried them.
They are a bit on the chunky side at 1.1kg but they are beautifully made and extremely rugged. Despite the weight, being rubberised I found them comfortable to wear with a chest harness. The stand out feature is that they have twin diopter adjustment and what can only be described as auto focus so you set them up for each eye and then from about 25 meters to infinity your eyes do the focusing. They are like no other binocular I have used before in that regard and it works really well. Set and forget with crystal clear optics. Optically they will outperform anything at twice the price point but as they have been sat in a box for the last 13 years it's time to let them go.
These are the military version so have a range finding reticle (handy for ranging deer or a Russian tank ) and a drop down internal IR filer (handy for spotting the helo when you need a stealthy extraction up from the pub). They also have orange low light filters stashed in the end caps which you can clip into the eye pieces for snow/flat light or other conditions which have never been used.
£200 RM SD to your door.
