Zummerzet,
What's the difference/how does it affect you in normal domestic usage by having a non static or static IP Address...?

Looking for a new ISP and see that O2 are offering a package where a static address is an extra £5.00 on top of the normal payment...:nenau

A static IP address is necessary for hosting servers and certain other services in your own home/location but pretty much everything else works fine with dynamic IP address allocation.

If you use services that would benefit from a static IP address but don't want to pay for it then use free services provided by the likes of http://www.dyndns.com/

And if you have a static IP address but don't want to be tracked in your surfing then use a service like this http://www.anonymouse.org

Edit: Given you have web hosting and domains hosted elsewhere I'd say the need for static IP is negligible.
