iPad 2 and posting on here, problems

Many thanks for that Bobble. Just wondering if any peeps here know of a browser that doesn't use the webkit.

I think any browser has to use webkit to gain app store approval.

I have the same problem with my iPad 2 since installing ios5.
However, I've found a workaround. I type my message in 'Notes' , then cut and paste into safari.*
Until apple come up with a fix, this works a treat.

I've found that if I load the first few words

before it crashes, I can then finish it in the edit facility without it crashing.

Hi Kaister, I noticed.

Opera has worked without crashing :bow

i thought opera for the ipad was webkit based like opera mini. it is the first browser approved by apple that isn't :)

i should have known that really, i've been using it since launch :blast

Fixed?

I've tried the usual cache emptying and turning off cloud etc. spoke to the man @ satsuma customer services and he suggested doing a restore from iTunes, it's only gone and bloody fixed it, hopefully!!

Okay - so how is fokeses getting on?

It's still driving me nuts! It also does it in the iPad email - kicks me out that is.

I'm on my 3rd iPad and all these problems only started with iOS5. Other problems include being chucked out of other apps - the most common one being The Times.

Having finally thrown a wobbly at Apple today they have finally elevated it to their engineers. They asked me to download a file from my PC and email it to them. If you are interested, this is where it is on a Windows 7 PC: C:\Users\Andrew(that's me!)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\Andrews ipad. There were 1698 crash entries in there!

That lot has gone off to the Apple engineers and I await there comments......:augie

Don't hold your breath! This is a widespread (universal) problem with iOS5 that apple has done zip about.

I hear some people have been refunded for their iPads because of it.

Done a bit of research on this today, and there is still no fix from apple.

Some punters have had refunds, others new IPads. Not really much evidence that a new iPad has cured the issue.

Happens on iPad 1s as well, also iPhones, all since ios5, so it can't be hardware. I don't expect apple to ever acknowledge the issue, but hope it goes away sometime after an update. That would be more their MO.

Safari crashed 3 times for me while posting this, so I went back to tapatalk.

No problems at all with my iPad2 32Gb :beerjug:

Since writing this, I upgraded to iOS5 and apart from the time it actually took to upgrade, it was seemless and my iPad2 has performed faultlessly ever since.

Sorry, but just have to say how it has been for me :beerjug:

Just a matter of time.

Try writing a reply and don't hit 'Submit' if it lasts 5 mins it'll be a record.

I'm now on my third iPad 2 since iOS5 came out!

The Apple approach - if we can't fix it, just shove a new one at the customer and hope he shuts up!!:blast
