I appreciate your comment, but the kit is seriously good and far better than Windows shyte.

I have just replaced a Windows laptop that is less than 3 years old and if decked, runs slow etc. The replacement Mac will still be going strong in over 5 years and it's a joy to use.

Bit late now but what about home insurance, accidental damage?

I may have a look at the house insurance cover, but often higher value items must be specifically listed, especially if taken out of the house (cameras, jewellery, etc.) though in this case the damage occurred inside the house.

Sure, the Apple software seems to run quite nicely (apart from an updating glitch a couple of weeks ago that messed up iTunes and that was also discussed on the forums). It's unfortunate that companies (including Samsung apparently) are going down the road of making products with sealed cases = difficult to make easy repairs. Even expendable items like batteries will cost Euro100 for an Apple iPad to replace.

Certainly the Apple Store in Hamburg is always pretty busy and there is normally a 3 day wait for an appointment to see an Apple Genius. Says it all really.
