In safari tap on book symbol (top left) then tap clear history.

Your wife/partner may wonder why the history is always empty.

When I tap on that what I get is "Reading List"
PS. Ah, got it now, there's a little clock face symbol that I have to press on mine to get the history up. Thanks!
