Ipad FaceTime

Hi, any advice please, friends ipad, when trying to FaceTime ( approx 14 months old) won't connect to the Internet. It's asking for Apple password which I have reset, also reset her Apple ID but when you try to connect to FaceTime you get a pop up saying check WiFi connection.
As far I can see there is nothing wrong with the WiFi connection.
I can access Safari and anything else Internet related.. I've checked FaceTime settings, all looks ok? The other odd thing is, even after changing the apple password it's not recognised ? Well baffled. Any thoughts please..

Can you log into the App Store with that password?

Thanks for the reply Schtum, but no, I've reset ID & password. Password twice and still can't access the App Store ? And I've updated to the latest updates.

As I recall the time ( as post 3) was out by about two hours, so I'll check this.
