I need to find an iPad app that can crop and resize in px and kb images for my website whilst I'm away from home. Downloaded lots from AppStore ( which is full of crap apps ) without anything meeting my needs, so anyone with any recommendations will be gratefully received.

This is my current working method on my iMac.

Select image from folder and open in Preview.
May crop if needed.
Adjust size to 550px keeping image ratio.
Save as same jpg file name and reduce kb size to around 25-30k

It's the last bit that has me stumped with iPad app.

Pretty simple requirements but can't find anything in the app jungle.

Have you tried Photogene. It isn't the cheapest, but has good but basic editing tools, and at export a resize option. Should do the trick.

PS if you look at one of my previous posts, I'm considering starting a website, and would want to do it off the iPad as well as a PC. As you are using an Ipad, how are you going about running your website. What software are you running. So far only got to registering my domain name, so I've plenty more work to do. Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

If you want to use an iPad to update a web site you will need to use software that has built in text and image uploading facilities. I use Wordpress which has an app that gives those options. If I use the iPad browser the option of uploading images is not available. This is due to the lack of a file system within iPad.

If you're looking for a blogging site check out the available apps in the AppStore ie. Blogger, Wordpress, etc.

I downloaded Photogene and it's pretty good but no option to lower the size in kb's of image or even an indication of the size of the image ( that I can see).

Hi Red 1. Thanks for you're tips on a website. Already running the blog using Blogger, and it's ok, but not fully functional as it is prone to crashing. As I already posted elsewhere the app writer has a update on apple's desk, waiting for approval. I'd more or less decided that Wordpress was the way to go, and even as we speak I'm ploughing through Wordpress for dummies.
As for your shrinking of images, I think you may be missing something. Under the export drop down, the first option is a resize. I just checked out the function and it worked OK. The original file was 1.3 megabytes, and after shrinking to the 200 option it was 29 Kb. I imported both images into the IMac to get the sizes. Unless I'm missing something that seems to be what you were looking for.

Thanks Gipsy, I'll have another look.
I use Wordpress for just about everything I do, it's very flexible.
