Anyone ever carried an IPad in a tank bag for a longish tour.... 3 weeks or so..? I think it's the dogs and ideal companion for my summer tour in May but am worried it might not survive 3 weeks in the tankbag....

Any suggestions on how to pack/carry also appreciated.

Cheers,

It has a solid state hard drive so it should be fine.

Just be sure not to get it wet.

Carried one around Europe for 4 weeks in Vario Panniers without problem. No special packing, just in a leather look iPad case off eBay for about £7. However it was often in the nearside pannier at the back and after seeing some pictures of melted Vario Panniers next to the exhaust I think I would now place it in a different part of the pannier :augie

Managed to get WiFi access most evenings and it was ideal for checking daily photos/videos we had taken, checking forums and watching videos.

tank bags

can get very hot in warm weather as they seem to soak up the sunlight, especially if black in colour. Electrical things don't take too well to excessive heat so it might prove useful to keep it in the bottom of the bag with a loose covering of a towel or similar, and out of direct sunlight if at all possible. A nice dark pannier would possibly be better as they tend to be thicker and not so susceptible to direct sunlight.
