Battery in its death throes? By the way, as I'm on holiday with lots of (for which read "all my reservation details") stored in it the only acceptable reply is: "No, of course, everything is absolutely fine."

But, just supposing, like.... ?

Are you using a 10w or 12w iPad charger or a 5w(?) iPhone charger? That would make a huge difference.

My old iPad Air would only charge 5% in a day. Battery fault and was replaced under warranty.

No, it's 12w, it says so on the side. I'm in Jerusalem at the moment and Google says the supply is 220v at 50 Hz, which is ok for the iPad. So far it's taken an hour to come up from 56% to 59%. I wonder if the hotel can help out by printing off all the reservations in case it goes tits up- 5 hotel and 2 car hire bookings, fortunately the boarding passes for the flight home have been printed already, must say I'm pleased about that at least.

PS, it's come up another two percent in the last ten minutes, odd that. Not that I'm complaining, you understand. Something odd here, it seems.

is it a genuine cable? might be a buggered charger?

Don't know if it'll make a difference but wouldn't hurt to do a reset (hold both buttons).

That's an idea, I've just tried that now after reading your post, I'll let you know. In the meantime, do you happen to know if I do this lots of times will it have any ill effects on the iPad at all? :)

Sorry, I missed your reply- no, both are geuine Apple and both used to work ok until recently. Today the charging has been much slower than usual.

You have probably done this already, but just in case, make sure you close all your apps and also turn off Bluetooth and wifi then see if it charges the battery quicker.

Umm ... No, I hadn't actually, never thought of that, there were six or seven apps open as well as the wifi.

Update: by this morning it was up to 100% so in retrospect perhaps there's no need to panic, it should last the rest of our holiday I think.
