Anybody got the new iphone 3G? Does it work with factory nissan bluetooth. Any reviews greatly appreciated. Ta ta.

I have one. Its OK. Dunno if it works with the factory Nissan bluetooth. It works with the one in my Rover. Why not ask Nissan?

As long as it's paired it will work with any bluetooth kit as bluetooth is universal.
How ever it will not pair with another bluetooth phone (1 phone to another) for some reason?
fyi - It will not forward a text message as it does not have this feature, neither did the first iphone, real pain in the arse!!

I had the first Iphone which would not bluetooth to my 330, and you also could not send any picture messages. I ended up selling it on ebay......
I recently spoke to O2 who advised that the new one will not bluetooth to anything other than a bluetooth headset nor will it be able to send picture messages...

A friend has the new 3G one and it does pair to the BMW 330 but wont transfer contacts.
great pocket computer, rather poor phone.
won't even bluetooth to a mac. can't do MMS, forward messages, send a contact, or cut and paste. camera is really shit. battery life is dire. o2 corage is not as good as my old orange contract with 3G being very patchy round here.
i still like mine though.
a handful of the apps are really good. it's fantastic ipod, great for video, SMS is superb and the interface is unmatched. software is updated regularly and seems to get better all the time. dunno what the use of upcoming google street view is though?

I had one, and gave it back after 3 days. Its a great web tablet thing for round the house. But as a phone/email device its crap. For email, no comparison to a Blackberry. Its impossible to type quickly on, more so if you have big fingers.
My verdict - if you want a phone with 3G and WiFi for use primarily as a phone and email device with a bit of web, you can't beat a Blackberry. At the moment the Blackberry 9000 Bold is the one to have IMHO.
If you want primarily web functions out of you phone then an iphone may do the job. Or get a laptop !
FYI - The o2 contract lets you buy an iphone one on contract, and you have 14 days to try it at home - Argos style. If you dont like it, you can take it back, get a refund and cancel the contract. I've got an iPhone 3G and its a cracking piece of kit. The ace in the hole is its web function and thats why I bought mine and I haven't been dissapointed. The only thing it won't really do in the web environment is cut-and-paste (my biggest gripe) and show flash content. I'd hope these two will be sorted in the next few updates.
It links to my yahoo and virginmedia email, without problem, using push on the yahoo account. You can type fast with practice.
Can't really compare with a blackberry, as I hope never to be chained down with such a device

I got an 'original' one which I picked up in the US in March... Excellent toy, crappy phone, it works, but for a "smart" phone there are way to many things it does not do.
I don't have a car, so I can't comment on the BT, but a colleague had problems with his 2006 318, his new 2008/9 318 does not have any problems.
And reading about the iPhone other places it really is a hit and miss if BT is working - newer cars seams to have sorted these things out, but ....
I mainly like that I can carry my phone and iPod in one device, otherwise I'd probably get something else.

I've got a 32GB Ipod Touch. All the substance of the iPhone but without the phone. If I need to access the 'net away from my home wifi I can do so by making my Nokia N95 into a wifi hotspot and using the N95's 3.5G connection to provide unlimited data. This way I have the world's best media player combined with the world's best smartphone (before the N96, that is.)
Had the original and now got the 3G version. I use it for work - phone calls (often up to 30 a day), web access, texting and I also use it as an iPod. Previously I had various Nokia 'business' phones. Not interested in the camera or using MMS.
As a phone I find it's fine. I often need it on silent and being able to do this by flicking a switch is really convenient. Call quality is fine although O2's 3G coverage seems patchy.
Surfing is fine if there's wifi or a decent 3G or EDGE signal although the lack of Flash and Java may be an issue for some. In my opinion its the best browser user interface on a phone once you're used to it.
Email - mainly used for quickly checking pdf attachments and acknowledging messages whilst out and about - again it works well enough for me.
Texting - ok but would be better if it worked in landscape mode. Grouping texts by 'conversation' works for me.
The phone pairs with an Audi bluetooth factory kit and transfers contacts and calls list without problem.
Bad things in my opinion -
Battery life - needs charging daily if 3G, wifi, bluetooth and GPS are all on.
No copy/paste.
Can't be used as a bluetooth modem.
No rSAP bluetooth profile.
They are an acquired taste if you're used to another phone type but now I would be reluctant to go back to anything else.

Upgraded from 2G to 3G - huge improvement in surfing speed and the GPS accuracy is also good.

The biggest improvement is the applications now available from iTunes - many for free or only 59p. (these however also work on the 2G

Parked a hire car in the middle of Palma last week and using a free app (Take me to my car) pressed a button and wandered off for the afternoon. Hours later, thoroughly disoriented, I pressed the "take me to my car" button again and up pops a map with my location, my cars location and a route map!
Awesome.
(PS. The Star Wars Lightsaber is a hoot too!!!)

I've got one too. Love it, not perfect, but coming from windows mobile 5 phones it's much easier to use. Probably my fav ever gadget.
Works well with my ford BT.
Wish you could use it as a modem for those occasions when I need server access.
Saves carrying multiple devices.
Needs cut and paste, modem, and tomtom or similar.
Push email from googlemail or exchange both works, although I've switched to manual synch as that preserves the battery. Also synchs contacts with exchange.
Typing is slower than on a proper keyboard, but as quick as you can do on any phone.
Will probably replace with a 4g(or whatever is the newest) in 12 months when contract runs out.

I find various aspects of my newish 3g model really useful- the GPS function, though not as accurate as a dedicated unit, is very useful. I like the World Clock and World Weather apps (I do business in the UK, US and NZ).

what the iphone really needs is a one touch app that switches the thing into low battery use mode.
if you do it manually it take ages to switch off 3G, GPS, WI-FI etc. as they are spread over several menus.

I have had the iPhone from launch and upgraded to the latest 3G model when available. I cant rate the iPhone highly enough but am man enough to admit that this may well be because im a big Apple fan!!
The iPhone is the best mobile I have ever had. The big attraction for me is its ability to sync perfectly with the calender on my computer. As a phone it does everything I need (apart from being able to forward the usual 'funnies' received as sms txt messages .. bummer). I dont send MMS (just as well .. because sending MMS doesnt exist on the iPhone) but the odd MMS I receive from people are easily collected by O2 automatically sending me a txt with a web site link to the MMS photo etc (works a treat with the superb surfing ability of the iPhone). The only reason I upgraded my iPhone was to avail of the new GPS feature and to double the storage capacity to 16GB (I watch the odd video on it .. fantastic). Finally, the ability to watch BBC iPlayer content is incredible (although im sure other mobiles offer this feature and GPS too).
So in summary .. the iPhone does somethings realllllllly well (eg video quality is superb eg surfing/watching video etc) .. it does somethings averagely (eg GPS) and somethings it does badly or not at all (eg MMS). Why not try it for 14 days? I believe O2 terms and conditions allow you to cancel the contract within this time period and walk away (although you would need to confirm this before signing the dotted line and then tracking me down for a kicking cuz I got it wrong!)

Had the BB Bold for a week and is a great PDA/phone ( some issues with the battery life , but its been sorted ), next week I am getting the BB Storm . Apart from WIFI is suppose do be a cracking PDA , we shall see...
