My phone contract is up for renewal soon and I am with carphone warehouse.

Just rang them and they insist they can't discount on the internet published prices.

In my experience their retention dept always pulls a deal out of the hat in the end.

Just wondering if anyone got a deal on their iphone? Did they lower the monthly tariff or lowered the initial purchase cost? Or are they genuinely a "no discount" product?

Thanks in advance :thumb2

They were offering good trade-in deals on other phones against it recently, so that's worth asking about.

The 3Gs is really nice (I was playing with one in a shop yesterday, and it's much faster than the 3G), but apart from the speed, it is not hugely different to the previous version, and there're some rumours that the next one will be a more major upgrade. It might be worth giving it a month or two for price drops/confirmation.

Spoke to vodaphone today, the woman told me that they will have iphones on there menu in december, might be right might be wrong but its what she said.

What he said!

Iphones or Macs they have a strict pricing policy and control distribution rigidly hence the sole tarriff deal through 02.

What he said, the operators cannot do anything. Apple refuse to discount it.

What many people do not realize is that the iPhone is actually a loss maker for o2, due to the payouts to Apple they have to make.

Try HTC Magic with Google Android, almost as good as the iPhone, half the price.

these got a very good discount

There was a 4 week waiting for the 16g ( white ) on business tariff , no discount . But you get a free iPhone after one year if you are on 24 month contract.

Stand by for the announcement from Orange that they'll be doing the iPhone.

Roll on some competition.....:clap

Advertising is due to start next week......

I found that out ... so pretty slim chance of getting it cheap

Duopoly or cartel comes to mind :(

When do they announce prices then?

Not sure....

The advertising will start this week, and may have some pricing.

Although this could be a duopoly as you rightly suggested, if you go to O2 and tell them that you're going to Orange unless they do you a better deal I'm sure there will be some flexibility.........

Do you think David's contact at Vodafone was leading him up the garden path... or do you think they'll get it too?

No Idea........

I've got a friend that works for Orange who gave me the info at the weekend.

My mates 3G iphone failed three times and the forth is starting to switch off randomly. Make sure you buy a one with warranty, even if it's a second.
