The iPhone will use its battery up very quick when in nav mode.
If you can power it then put it in the map pocket of your tank bag and either use headphones or blue tooth connection.

For 18 months. Works well.1200rt with an Arkon mount. TomTom All of Europe.
Caberg Sintesi Bluetooth Helmet.
Simultaneously can: Play music. Do movie clips. Be a satnav. Answer phone.
All in all, superb.

i ve also used my 3GS with Tom Tom...and its pretty decent...
but as it has already been said, the battery doesnt last long, and if you connect it to the charger while you use it as a sat nav, it is overheating to a disturbing degree (plus it is charging with a slower rate than the rate of consumption)...

Yes, that is why I use an arkon cradle. Powers it up, boosts satellite signal, and leaves phone in open air to keep it cool.

I bought what was meant to be "UK and Ireland" Garmin mapping for my iphone 4.

It turned out to be the whole of Europe, and installs automaticallly on my Ipad :thumb2

I think it was £38 for the app.

A bit of a bargain - for the whole of Europe on two units.

I have navfree and bought a waterproof iPhone case, mount and power kit from amazon. Navfree works well with Bluetooth

Guys, if you just want UK mapping then don't pay £20, £30 or more for tom tom, copilot or similar .

Try Waze... it's free :JB and works equally well. Waze gives great traffic reviews ( perhaps for when you are in the car rather than on the GS?) but also gives speed camera alerts .

(Steve H I too like Navfree but it suffers from Adverts )

Look here ; http://www.waze.com

You may not have heard of Waze , but they are well funded and have 7 million users on IOS and Android.

Another alternative is to invest in an iPhone 5 which has it all built in to IOS 6 .........
