iPhone power source for gsa

As per the quirks of BMW we have the silly Hella socket. I am assuming that the BMW female socket is 5 v . I tried connect the black and red wire from my usb iPhone charging lead to the Hella male but unfortunately the iPhone did not charge. What have I done wrong?

Nooooo......the socket is 12v. Hope you haven’t fecked your phone.

Get a hella to cigarette lighter adapter like this

Then use a usb plug in thingy like this

I may misinterpret the picture, but it looks like the black cable is connected to the center pin. The center pin is + and the casing is -.
