Anyone made the switch from iOS to android ?

I'm thinking of getting a Nexus 4, as opposed to an iPhone 4S, as tbh I'm a bit bored and fed up with iOS now. It all works well, but hasn't moved on much since I first started using it with the first iphone.

Anyone ?

I will still have my ipad and Mac so not moving away completely.

I have a Nexus 4 and did have an iPhone 4s for a while.

The google apps side of thing has come a long way, stick all your music into Google Play for free instead of paying for iTunes match. If you use Gmail the experience with the Nexus 4 is great, and the latest version of Android makes it a breeze to manage tasks, switch between apps etc.

The Nexus 4 is a great phone, a hell of a lot of bangs for the bucks, my only gripe with it is battery life, but it's no worse than a Galaxy S3 or an iPhone 4s in that respect, and it's mainly because I'm always tinkering with it.

Like you, I've got an iPad, and I use an iMac at home as well as a couple of Windows PC's.

I've got an iPad, then got an android (galaxy s2) phone.

Much prefer the android os, if the iPad died, I'd go android to replace it. If the galaxy died I'd buy exactly the same again.

Having one foot in either camp isn't ideal...

Used to be exclusively Apple user.

However work gave me a Samsung S3 and they pay the bill....

Very qucikly I sold the Ipad and bought myself a Nexus 7.

Android to me doesnt have the same build quality of Apple or IOS but a very good and very cheap alternative in comparison.

Just bought a Nexus 4 having previously had iPhones. No regrets: for me, I can't think of anything the iPhone does better. I am perhaps influenced by being a Gmail user which sits very easily on the Nexus/ Android. I also use Chrome and Google Maps and the integration with desktop is very good.

One criticism is that for the phone to automatically save photos, you have to sign up to Google +. I did this for a day and hated it, deleted my account (Google +, not Gmail) and now use Dropbox. The Android App allows you to automatically save photos to your Dropbox when you are on wireless so problem solved.

I haven't found an APP I care about which isn't available/ doesn't have an equivalent on the Android but it would be worth checking. I still use iTunes on my desktop as I am subscribed to a number of Podcasts...they come across to my desktop as MP3 so you can do what you want with them. I use Amazon Cloud Player for music. I prefer this to Google mainly because I have been buying music from Amazon for years so most of it's there already...install the Android App, sign in to Amazon and you can play all past purchases (including a lot I had lost/ forgotten).
