iPhone, Zumo 550 and Starcom

Does anyone out there use this combination? My iphone connects fine with the Zumo via bluetooth and works fine in the car. On the GS I'm using the Garmin mount which has an audio out 3.5mm socket connected to my Starcom. So I can hear speech coming in but obviously need the mike from my starcom to connect with the phone so I can talk. There is a 2.5mm microphone socket on the mount but not sure how I can take this to the Starcom. The other option I guess is to use a Bluetooth module connected to the Starcom from the phone just for the microphone. So two bluetooth connections. Does this work? Would prefer to hardwire. Can someone confirm best set up please.

Yes you need CAB-55, but you get mono audio (I don't care) or you need to run a mic and audio cable. Don't use Bluetooth as the audio is not up to much. I have a Starcom BT adapter but don't use it since getting the Zumo.

My phone is a HTC Touch HD (similar to he Iphone), I set the Zumo bluetooth audio to phone only and the MP3/Satnav that way I get everything through the Starcom.

You can dump the Starcom and get a lead that they sell to just use the Zumo, but I have read on here it's a bit quiet.

I made up the cable you need.

I have a 3.5 and 2.5 jack on Zumo into a 4 core and earth cable out to 2 x 3.5 stereo jacks.

All works fine. phone rings, gps or music cuts out and i talk on phone.

Its in stero too.

Yes the sound is a bit low, but usable.

you need a MIC01 cable that goes from the 2.5mm socket on the zumo to the phone1 socket on the starcom

and if you want stereo from the zumo you need a MUS-04 from the 3.5mm on the zumo to the mus1 on the starcom.

both the above are isolated leads.

I 'think' the Zumo is too quiet with earplugs and IMHO bluetooth is not the best quality audio by far. I'm just about to pull my starcom out of my K1100 to fit in the GS and thought about doing what you said, the 'clincher' was keeping a bluetooth headset charged!

Thanks. I'm going to give the CAB-55 a try -I dont care about mono as long as I can hear whats going on. Bit worried about it being quiet though. I've never actually managed to get the system really loud and I use ear plugs so to needs to be.
Yep I could, but then I want it for bike to bike, pillion and also a separate MP3 player.

This sounds a good option. If the lead I'm getting (seriously expensive!) doesn't do the business I'll pop down to Maplins for the bits. Thanks for this.

I have a similar set up, but have a Blackberry.

I found I had to pull over to hear the caller, but this could be to do with the fact it was windy and I have an Arai helmet which aint quiet!

Have you tried moving the speakers in the helmet and see if that helps?
