I know there have been one or two threads of a similar nature before but I'd like to be able to watch iPlayer on 'telly. One way is to hook up the laptop etc, although I've never been able to crack the sound issue there.......

However, just got a new Samsung TV and I notice it's got a slot that looks like the PCMCIA slot in a laptop. If that's the case, does that mean I can whack a wifi card into it and it'll work? I've tried the instructions, Samsung website but to no avail. :nenau

Failing that, how do I get sound from the laptop to the TV?

Cheers

Or use your Wii - there's an app allowing you to browse iplayer content :thumb2

or on a PS3

However, I find iPlayer on Wii better than on my PS3, though might just be my setup. PlayTV on the PS3 works well, especially with the upgraded HD I added recently.

Probably not. My Sony's got one but apparently it's for 'engineering functions'.

Get the appropriate lead is the usual answer. Probably a 3.5mm stereo jack to a 2 phono socket but it depends on what the telly uses. I've got an DVI to HDMI and a digital phono lead for mine.

Now sorted, thanks for the halp. 3.5mm jack for the sound and you're right - the apparent PCMCIA slot is for top-tv services over freeview rather than network connectivity.

The PCMCIA slot is for cable TV, some American providers offer a card instead of a set top box.
