I've got an iPod Mini which I have used to the max and have run out of storage space on. I'm hoping Santa brings me the new iPod Video gizmo. What I'm wondering is, when I install the new iPod software, will all my iTunes which are already on my PC, automatically get loaded onto the new iPod? Obviously, I want to be able to select what stuff is jointly stored on both. :thumb

Now I don't have two iPods to try this with but you should not need to install new software for a second iPod, presumming you have iTunes loaded. This link to the Apple iTunes support pages should help.

I've not yet tried running multiple iPods from my computer but like you am hoping for a generous Santa this year and had looked into the subject.

Yes if all you music is on your Itunes it will recognised the new device (they work on serial numbers) so you will be able to add them to the new unit.

I have a 3 G 40 gig, the misses has a Mini ipod and a nano, I also run a shuffle for the gym.

Hope it helps, Nick

My original post obviously isn't clear. Why would I want all the iTunes on my Mini to be on the new iPod? What I want to know is:- Is there I way that I can select what tunes (from my iTunes already stored) get transfered onto the new iPod?

Yes, your pod needs to be set to manual as not to 'auto load' all of your tracks from itunes when connected.

When you plug in your new pod it will appear in the menu on the left as you are aware. Then, highlight the tracks from itunes you want then 'drag'n'drop' them into your pod.

You can set up different Smart Playlists and then under Options for each iPod choose to update only the selected playlists. That way you can have both iPods with different contents automatically synced.

The wifes got a Ipod mini.
I just bought her a 60g vid Ipod and connecyed to the computer.
It downloaded her music straight away no problem and you don't need to register your Ipod if you don't want to.
