Hi everyone...

I've got an iPod with iTunes installed on my PC........

My son Tim got an iPod Mini for his birthday today & he wants to download some of my library onto his iPod......

I've plugged his iPod into the PC which recognises that a USB connection has been made but my iTunes cannot see his iPod....but when I put my own iPod into it's dock, the PC sees it straightaway......

Surely one can connect more than one iPod to iTunes...either simultaneously or separately........?

Or do I need to read the fekkin' manual.......?

Any suggestions gratefully received.....

Cheers

That is strange - mine recognises three ipods no problem (on a mac though) ...have you tried closing iTunes down before you connect the second iPod...?

If its the first time you've used the ipod mini, you'll probably need to format it. Just had the same problem with my kids minis. All works fine now. iTunes will format it for you - check in help for how to do so.

For the record, my iTunes runs a 3rd gen ipod and a shuffle no problem.

2nd ipod

Just bought my wife a nano. How do I add a second IPOD to itunes?

I had a similar problem with both of our ipods, itunes would recognise mine but not the missus's ipod

One option is connect up the ipod without itunes running, this should kick start itunes and then hopefully should reconise the ipod - if not then try ejecting the ipod from the list to the left or in the options/drop down menus at the top, sometimes our ipods would get stuck in a sort of loop, you might see an icon like an no entry sign on the ipod, this is when the ipod should be updating or syncronising with itunes

If none of the above works try on the apple website forums

Hope this helps, if not then sorry

You should just have to plug it in. I sync about five different iPods with my iTunes (old 20gb 3rd gen for car, my nano, brother's mini, friend's nano, 2 shuffles, oh, hang on, that's seven), and they all seem to work fine.

I guess the comment about formatting made above may be the issue with yours (I am mac based, and you do not need to format anything on macs).
