Since we are now spending the majority of time in Ireland, I think the time has come to re-register the bikes there. I've been looking at insurance sites to try and get some idea of what we might expect to pay, but Irish insurers seem to prefer the 'give us a call' approach over the online quote, so I'm none the wiser.

What did spring out from the insurance websites though was the condition that you need to be between 25 and 70. R is 62 in March and has no intention of giving up biking any time soon. Really?! Can you not insure a motorcycle in the ROI if you're over 70?

There are a good few over 70 year old bikers so someone is still doing it. Also the BMW club is full of old "codgers" so check there :augie. Forget online quotes, you need a human drone on the phone to get a good quote. The onlines only do "standard risk" so you need to talk in order to haggle.

i lived in Roscommon for 7 years and the cheapest i could get,by a long way,was Carole Nash!!
