I like a bit of rally spectating from time to time, and some of the best I have seen was on the Emerald Isle, so I was thinking about another visit sometime this year.
Now the best way to watch rallying is to have some local knowledge when planning the spots where the best viewing is, that leads me to ask do any of your Irish Tossers go watch the sport meetings?
I wouldn't mind joining a group if such a thing exists, you know, a bit of camping, watch the cars, a steak pie and chip dinner and a few pints of the dark stuff...... anything doing?

Could even stretch to a bit of on route marshalling if you're involved in such a task.......

Donegal Rally in June is the one to be at, sit up on Knockalla mountain for a nice relaxing day, with the cars coming along the road with the great views of the beach and sea.

Ulster is my favourite, run at end of August, Irish Tarmac championship, British & the Historic also, plus its handy to home. No where near as many crowds as Killarney or Donegal, great stages and of course, Torr Head is used!!

So, as a competitor, is there any chance of a copy of the road book, this may help me plan a route for doing some viewing.

Yes , but no - road books only got at recce , which in some cases is immediately prior to event ... so not practical.
All of the big rounds here , have programes with v good maps - so pick the time of year , (approx) - this will dictate one or two events , and go from there.
There are no "bad" events , so it's really take your pick time

Ok, thanks.....
I went to the Ulster a couple of years ago, and did the 'program' route, and it was very good to be fair......

Well come say hello at service ! :)
(on the assumption that we survive Circuit of Ireland 1 week before it !)

You a rally fan deep down Aidan?

Molls Gap is a mighty stage alright, but dont forget the Healy Pass, another classic stage.

If you search youtube with "porsche 928 historic rally galway" you'll get the view from the inside (nose cam from ss15 is nice with the speakers turned up - SS15 PIP shows this partially as well ... try not to fall asleep - honestly it felt quicker at the time , but conditions were sh*te !)
