Evening all.
Friends are involved with a charity this year and have a large fundraising target to hit so I'm wondering which (if any!) of these two options you'd reckon is more of a challenge and likely to attract a few pounds or euros from you if I was to manage one of them :aidan :completing the Iron Butt Association (IBA) Circuit of Ireland in 24hrs in accordance with the IBA rules
OR
completing the Irish Photo Rally 2011 in one weekend

I'd go with the IBA ride. Sounds like more of a challange that people could relate to.

I have yet to do the Circuit of Ireland. Just waiting for the days to get a bit longer.

Id hate to spoil the photorally by doing it in a weekend unless I was pressed for time, usually do one or two locations and maybe a few megaliths over a Saturday and a Sunday
The Iron Butt Association (IBA) Circuit of Ireland in 24hr, well thats a challenge and if ur up to if then fair dues

I was miss reading it. You don't have to log Map points you have to get a receipt from an ATM, for buying something, passing through a toll or what ever as long as it shows the date time and location on it your good. Happy days.
I'll do tis hen the weather gets a it better. If theres any of the photo rally stuff on route I'll stop and get them to but I wouldn't say you'd be able to go to far off the route.

I posted an image in this thread of the Circuit of Ireland route (slightly wrong between Galway and Clifden but you get the idea).

You can see how close the route comes to some of the Photo Rally points. I'd be inclined to get the one near Clifden and the Donegal/Derrys ones during the IBA ride. Won't have much time to do any others.

With very short breaks, you are looking at around 17 hours for the Circuit of Ireland. Try do as much of the West Coast during daylight if you can.

Do the Circuit of Ireland in order to get your IBA membership then do the 32 County Challenge as the fundraiser.

32 County towns in 32 hours is a good deal harder and an impressive ride to help raise money for your charity.

Looks like the IBA Circuit of Ireland it is!
Will get a justgiving.com site set up and plan ahead for it.
Aidan - I agree that the 32 county event is more of a challenge than the circuit - maybe next year when I've the IBA membership ;)
Thanks for all your input.
Watch this space :D

do bit of both

do IBC and images of each county instead of receipt etc

Hi John
I need the receipts to get the IBA certified. Will be a bit too knackered to pose photos I reckon - maybe next time.
Once the clocks go forward I'll attempt this...:aidan
