After a grand total of 1800 miles I have an irritating squeak come from the frontal area of the bike. It’s intermittent and only audible at lower speeds over uneven road surfaces. At first I thought it might be coming from the windshield mount, but played around with it and it doesn’t seem to be that. Pretty confident it’s not the suspension related and I’ve tugged and pressed all the panels, tft, etc to no avail. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Gracias :D

Do you have the self levelling headlight?

Might sound odd but have you got a top box on it?

They can rattle about and the sound bounces off the bodywork or screen and sounds like it’s coming from the front

No I’m not mental :rob

I have. I’ll remove it and see if it makes a difference. Thank you.

Do you think it could be that Frank?

Might be, have seen somewhere that it can make a noise when adjusting the headlight and you are hearing it at lower speed on uneven road so it would be adjusting itself. Just a thought.

My K1600GT developed a really annoying squeak that was apparently fairly common. Only seemed to do it when it was hot. Dealers tried to resolve it and said everything was greased as it should be, the only way to stop it was to put a cover over the front wheel and empty a tin of silicone spray all over the front suspension links. One of the problems was that all being so enclosed it was never really possible to find out where the squeak was coming from.

Different kind of suspension, I know, with lots more moving parts...

If it's the headlight squeaking you should be able to provoke it - just by putting full beam on, when the headlight unit flips up slightly. Or by sitting on the bike with the engine off, so there's nothing to mask the noise.

I had the same annoying squeak and traced it to the top box as well.

Well, not far of the mark. It’s coming from the rack mount! Removed the Bumot top box and it was still doing it, so I next removed the Bumot mounting plate. When I gently move the rack up and down it squeaks :-)
Probably all needs undoing, greasing and tighten up to the correct torque - fook it, I’ll let the dealer sort it out just in case!

Sorted. Arrived at dealer. Handed bike and keys over. 20 minutes later squeak gone. Was coming from rack mounting bolts. Purchased torx set now.
Like ncpierce said, weird how it seemed to be coming from the front end when in my case it was the complete opposite end.

I have an irritating droning noise on the back located very very close to the pillion seat.

Has anybody noticed a sort of transmission droning noise from the rear end, starts about 63mph then fades away at about 68mph, tyres are Anakee adventure, bike done 350 miles

Tyre noise aside, there is a well documented transmission noise, often described as rthythmic or "thrumming"

Most folks notice it in 3rd or 4th gear at relatively slow speeds
