Is it all in my head?

Put my 08 GS in for it's 12k service a couple of weeks ago and now it just doesn't seem the same. Before it went in for the service it was running beautifully. Super smooth with the accelerator module attached. Which I took out before the service and have replaced since

Since it's come back it just feels a bit "rattly". Nothing wrong specifically, powers all there etc. Just not as smooth.

Now it could all be just in my head and I'm loathed to go back to the dealer when I can't quite be specific with the fault and there's nothing wrong with it. I've tried putting it all to the back of my mind and just riding the thing but it's still bugging me.

The only thing I can think of is they've used a different oil than before ??

take it back, try the TPS reset ,ignition on roll the throttle slowly twice then turn it off. It should be running well at that milage:thumb2

That's the problem. It's not running badly, in fact it's fine. Just not as good as I thought it was. If you get my drift:confused::confused:

Your invoice should tell you what oil they put in. Mine has done the opposite after its 6000 mile service. It came back smoother and faster than it went in. No idea what they did other than go from mineral oil to synthetic. The fuel consumption improved by a good amount as well. I would say though that it sounds more tapity than it was before though. Fairly new to these bikes so I dont know if the valve clearances normaly loosen or tighten in use. Tighten would make sense with my observations but I dont know either way.

They have probably balanced your throttle bodies with a set of dodgy gauges, leading to the symptoms you describe.

Think you may well be onto something here:thumb2. I'll have to just go back to Vines and get them to have a look.

If nothing else it'll put my mind at rest:confused:

Thats what they did to mine on its first service (not you dealer though ! )
Apparently one of the pipes they attach to balance the throttle bodies had split so when they set it up from what was previously fine,it went to ratshit and ran like a pig nearly getting me cleaned up when it stalled in traffic !!

OOOh ya bugger that scared me :1/10

how did that happen?

if the rough running has been (accidently) caused by them you would really have expected the post service roadtest to have picked up on it
It just sounds sloppy to me :(
