Well It's that time of year again.

Grubbing round the mucky collection of parts I have kicking about and I have just about enough parts to put another bike together:-

81 RS Frame

1000 RS Engine

Forks

Tank

Hubs and RS Bevel box

Wheel rims

So I figured it was time I put together a Cafe Racer style machine. It'll be nice not having to worry about keeping things standard. Should keep me busy over the Winter.

John Larrs machine is lovely and not too radical. I'm aiming for something along these lines. At the end of the day it has to be rideable.

And you haven't even got a frame yet

Give me a shout if there's anything I can help you with. Custom wiring looms, Gearbox rebuild etc. I've Got a lathe if you need anything running up.

I've never seen a frame like that in your picture, not sure what real difference the strengthening would make back it looks well nifty!

Those frame rails do diddly squat but looks trick.

It's fine but as someone on advrider pointed out you'll never be able to get the dipstick out, it's bad enough with a standard exhaust on.

Right! The 100/7 is back on the road so it's on with the show.


First Problem. The seat.

I'm not a fan of the Flat Racer seat it looks far too long for my liking.

Anybody come across any decent cafe racer seats? Joe Carusso (Guzzi fan Round the corner) has been having some Guzzi seats made in fibreglass with a local fella. I'd have to carve a mould though - haven't got a clue whats involved in that at the minute. need to do some research.

I love this one from the rear but it isn't so good from the side

I took the oppourtunity of trying a cafe inspired paint scheme out on the 100/7 and really like it. May be an idea to follow it on to the project bike..early days though so may change my mind.

It's a Baines Imola kit bike based on a 900SS. Baines Racing in Silverstone supplied all the body parts - the seat unit looks quite like the old bevel drive 900SS...

as well as their bmw rear subframe

Prices look half reasonable too

Frame - looks similar but is lighter and stronger than stock frame, and is twin shock type
Swing arm and shocks
Silencers
Rear mudguard
Seat
Aluminium fuel cell ( tiny)
Fiberglass dummy tank
Fairing and screen
Rear light
Footrests and foot controls
Clipons

Can't remember how much - somewhere around 4k maybe?

Pretty much everything else came from the donor bike
