Chronology
July - Bought used 2008 R1200RT at 42K on the clock, ABS linked (NOT SERVO)
September - Now at 47K Brought to BMW agent for 50K service which I specifically asked for brake and clutch flush, change in engine, gear and FD oil. This being my 'first' service as I was unsure of the bike history.
Brake fluid flush for I have had bikes before and wanted to avoid issues with the ABS.
After two weeks, on a start, the lights went flashy flash.
Brought it back to the BMW agent and he says it is the ABS unit at 3K to replace. Oh nooo!

The brake lights are on continuously, the speedo doesn't work, the ASC is off and the ABS is off.

I have disconnected the battery, removed/replaced the rear bulbs and ordered a new rear speed sensor, as a cheaper attempt to try to fix this.

It may be coincidental, but me thinks the service may have triggered this.

I now ride with bright rear lights, not knowing my speed and with distracting lights, one flashing irritatingly.
At least the brakes work.

Any advice please?
(Note - I have sent an ABS II module for an 1150 to Tyler of Moscow before and he did a great job. Now sure for this ABS model tho' as there are many differences).

The R1200 RT has the same iABS2 unit fitted to all K and R series bikes manufactured from 2007 onward.

Failure of the ABS unit should be indicated by a solid, constant RED warning on the dash - this is an FAQ, and is well documented on several K bike forums, eg :

You need to get all of the error codes fro the dealer - the error codes for the iABS2 pump brush problem are 24048 and 24049.

If you don't have teh solid red ABS error, I would start with the obvious - Have you checked both front and rear brake switches for correct operation.

Thanks for the quick response Sir,

I believe there are no brake switches for my model...well none that I can find.

Changed both speed sensors but to no avail.
Finally, given in to the world of BMW and have ordered a new ABS module at about 1500 pounds sans labour. Decided on this as a warranty will then be in place as I will not be able to afford this again....ever.
Alternative solution is to sent the ABS unit to Moscow Idaho and wait about a month with the bike sitting at a dungy garage. Though confident of their good work, I would just kick myself if it didn't work and was something else (sensors??). Could try it myself but...............................better not.

Been riding with flashy dash lights, brake lights on continuously, speedo ar 'Zero'. self indicator cancel off, no mileage or consumption reading on the computer and without ABS.

Not too bad really. Just like my early bikes.

I will, however, have the old unit after the replacement, which I will get repaired and perhaps, put it up on ebay.
