Is it the coil sticks?

My 2003 1150GS twin spark has started to miss a bit. Seems to miss a bit sometimes when accelerating hard and idle sometimes is a bit rough but has never stalled. At about 80-90ish:augie in 5th it doesn't feel right either. Runs well otherwise. Have cleaned all the plugs and checked throttle cables are seated correctly. Tank has not been moved for some time. I'm guessing therefore its the coil sticks, these have been cracked and a bit rusty for over a year, and have kept coated with ACF50. Or could it be the Hall sensor. Was serviced 3000mile ago.

Whats the groups thought on it and how do I test the sticks and hall sensor?

Pull off the secondary HT lead, the one underneath. If the bike won't start or runs worse, then the coil stick is knackered on that cylinder.

"not saying it is def your coil sticks but i had the same symptoms as you and replaced mine now running ok"

Same here.
I didn't even bother to work out which one was faulty and replaced both at the same time as they seem to have a finite lifespan and I would probably have been replacing the other one very soon anyway.

Did you check/replace the spark pugs first - not just clean them?

I had exactly the same issue as you...

I had just spent £70 on a new stick coil and it didn't fix the problem - spent £20 on 4 new spark plugs and solved!

Just saying, don't do what I do - replace the spark plugs first - might have been a much cheaper fix!
