I OWN A SEVEN YEAR OLD GSA DO YOU THINK ITS WISE TO START SERVICING IT MYSELF TO SAVE ON DEALER COSTS.....BLOODY EASY TO DO:thumb REALLY

If you're unable to find the shift key and think this is the right part of the forum to post this question, then I'd think - no...

And if you can't find your way out of the UKGSER Hosts section................ :blast :D

No definitely not.....................

Think of those poor starving children at home and waiting for the owner of your local BMW dealer to get home only to find out he has not managed to fleece you and rob you of your hard earned money.

No wonder the economy is in such a state. if you don't give your BMW dealership shed-loads of cash that you can barely afford for over-priced oil and an hourly rate to keep him in yak's milk saunas and caviar on toast then he won't be able to go on that Skiing holiday in Aspen and the travel agents won't get their commission and they won't do their weekly shop at Tesco and the whole world will eventually implode.

On your head be it!

I'm assuming you're joking, of course you should service it yourself, not only will you save a packet but have the satisfaction of knowing you did it, and did it right. I only ever use a dealer for complicated stuff or diagnosis. They're brilliantly simple bike for doing the basics on.

To put the above comments into context, this thread was originally posted in the section that Offers accommodation around the globe for other GSers on their travels.

I have just had two tyres fitted by a local bike mechanic. Should I take the bike to BMW to check the job was done properly?

Obviously I would need to hire a van so perhaps someone can set my mind at rest.
