Is it worth fitting GSA screen to GS?

Sorry if you have already done this one. I love my GS but the buffetting at 65mph plus is a pain on long distances. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thinking of fitting a GSA screen, any thoughts? I assume one will fit, any idea what the upper bracket might cost?

Yep worth doing less buffeting even better if you fit the winglets .Don't know cost though

I hope so as my GSA screen has arrived and I am just waiting for the other bits. Hopefully it will be here by the weekend.

The cost is about £300 without the winglets which cost £35.

Hi I sell these if your interested ?GS and ADV Prices the same £185 for screen thats the larger winter one the support bar and the smaller summer one.

Seperate screen same size as ADV screen with support bar to fit GS or ADV H500 W650 £175

Same screen but 50mm higher than standard ADV screen H550 W650 £180

These screens are a lot widder than standard so offer far more protection the extra hight one is big very big

just mt 2p worth but if you dont want to spen the £300 on a bmw adv screen ( like me) but still like the looks, i went for the wunderlich ergo screen, at about £150 its cheaper and a but wider than the bmw part, and when fitted with wingets, its just as good, well it is for me anyway
but the adv screen does look the dogs dangles!

Fitting the GSA screen to my GS, with Winglets, made a world of difference to the wind noise/buffeting I was suffering.
(FYI my height is 5' 9½")

I put the MAR Vario Touring on my 09 gs12. £96 delivered from Motorworks,check their link. Makes a big difference for me with the little spoiler thingy on it's highest setting,I'm 6'5".

I bought the support bracket around this time last year. The cost then was £108.94 + vat (£19.06) = £128.00.

Just the screen alone is a worthwhile change and it looks the part because its a pukka Beemer part.

I fitted the GSA screen and winglets about 2 and a half years ago. Not cheap but looks the part and does the job too. I daresay there are more alternative (and cheaper) options available nowadays though.

Bigger IS better...

The Adventure screen really helps. The winglets actually make a huge improvement - I used to have a Wunderlich Ergo screen (a little wider and taller than the adv screen) on my old GS. It was a huge improvement over the CeeBailey screen(s) I first fitted in what became a quest for "better air".... After a couple of years with the Wunderlich I still resented the noise and turbulence caused by the wake from other vehicles and from sidewinds...I added the Adventure screen brace and winglets and found a whole new world of quieter air.-The screen brace stopped the tall screen from flapping around and creating extra turbulence and the winglets smoothed the passage of air around the sides of the screen. The difference was also noticed by my pillion... I think the winglets on their own would make a huge difference to the turbulence from the standard screen....You don't have to go to BMW, you can also get them from Ceebaileys(.com) for a very reasonable price...
On my new Adv I have gone the whole hog and fitted an Aeroflow half fairing - its not particularly pretty but it sort of suits the Adv, and really organises and quietens the airflow, helping to stop me from surreptitiously wanting an RT.....My passenger also notices a huge difference in the noise and comfort levels. Phew, that was a lot of words...

Another screen thread! Can we have a gentlemen's (Tosser's?) agreement that any statements regarding screens are backed up by the riders height and a mention if there are any changes to riding position such as low seats or bar risers? Otherwise comments from a 5'4" guy aren't very relevant to 6'6"incher....

I did wonder if it was me ot my cheap Caberg flip front helmet causing the noise/draft. Now I know it is in part at least to do with the shorter screen on the GS as I suspected

I have decided to swap it (only had it 3 weeks, dont tell Mrs Parabiker) for a larger screen. Just need to decide on BMW or patent part.

Once I have decided I will of course post feedback and a ride report.

For info I am 5'9'' tall, riding on the lower seat setting, hopeflly I will be able to ride on the higher setting once I have made the swap and get some extra leg room.

I have a caberg flip and it is noisy to the point I use my arai if I have more than a 100 miles to travel. That said, I recently fitted the adv screen to my GS se and it's defo a big improvement over the standard 1200 screen. Swapping screens is not a cheap solution but at least it's possible to refit the standard 1200 screen when you eventually sell and recoup some of the GSA screen expense by selling separately: Devon, 5' 10" - scorpio

I have a 08 low suspension and low screen GS and played about with a few screen options to reduce buffeting. The high and wide NN screen seemed to work OK but I struggled to see over it as I am 5' 7". In the end I fitted a 2nd hand GSA screen from fleabay, but did not go for the frame. I had a TT screen support for the NN screen and have used that for support of the GSA screen. So for less than £100 I was able to see if the GSA screen was an improvement.

I used it for the Croatia 09 tour and found it very effective and the TT support keeps it quite stable, and it looks good (and I can see over it OK). I'm very happy with it. So this is an other option, and a way of trying out a GSA screen to see if it works for you.

I also have NN winglets which are an added help with wind protection.

Dropped my GS and damaged the GSA screen so fitted the old GS screen. I had fotgotton how windy it was!!

Have now pxed the GS for a GSA and all is peaceful again. Its the best mod you can do on a GS.
