1150GS, starts fine but for some reason as soon as I switch off the clock goes as well and resets itself, rode for 80 miles yesterday and still the same, been on optimate for 24hrs and still no clock, battery or wiring issue?
Have a look at the electrical connection under the tank at the starboard side beside the quick release fuel connectors. They can get a bit grotty and need a clean.
check fuse number 3 - in fact, don't just check it, swop it with another of the same rating. Had a couple bikes in recently with the fuses looking ok, but no current getting across
Tried all of the above, replaced all the fuses just to be sure, even the spare one..
Still the same, as soon as I switch off the bike the clock goes, isn't the battery as it has been strong as ever so what next, not being an electrical type of person I wouldn't know where to start, although I do have a volt metre...
Are you doing short trips? When down south I was commuting 10min journeys and when lights on it and the engine start drew more current then the recharge to the battery. That was a standard 1150 without ABS and Servos and it would reset power to the clock daily. A right pain.
Turn your lights off and see if it affects it, if so buy a HID and LED rear. I've saved 192.8w (everything on) converting to HID's and LED's.
Most days it is a 50mile round trip and is on optimate at night anyway.
Last time this happened it was bad wiring from whoeverfitted the alarm, but that has since been re-wired by SPC, although can't go back to them now, and last time it would immobolize the bike, this doesn't it just stops the clock from working
Can live without it but at times it is nice to know the time, rest of the digital guages are fine, but then they only work when ignition is on.
