One of my Optimates is not working correctly. It is not showing the Green power light and whichever bike I plug it into it just shows the red Desulfate light?

Anybody else had this?

Corrosion on the connectors can be a common problem of optimate faults. If you're using a hard wired connection the terminals can corrode. Try connecting straight to the battery by the crocodile clips.

Just had the same problem, the connectors corrode, search optimate on eBay and you will find new connector kits for a couple of quid. Cut off the old ones and replace them, cured mine immediately. It's worth a try before junking or replacing it.

Thanks chaps, even if the contacts were corroded would I still not get the green power light up on the charger though:nenau

No! If there is a short circuit caused by a bad connection the unit will not power up. The optimate will indicate a red light if it's been connected wrong without even being plugged in. My guess is you have a short circuit caused by corroded connectors, the unit is therefore not powering up to protect its self and the bike.

Fixed! :thumb

Sometimes it pays to go back to basics. I took the unit indoors and took the back off but there was nothing obvious so I thought I'd check the plug fuse. Popped the back off, the fuse is ok but just out of curiosity I checked the binding post connections and the live was slightly loose, I tweaked it up about a turn and a half, plugged it back in and bingo, we have a green power light:thumb

Unit now connected back onto the GS.

Thanks for all the input lads.:clap
