is the r100 mystic a proper airhead

never looked at them before as i thought they didnt have the CLASSIC LOOK allthough i did have one once with a sidecar ,i want something to play with before i decide which adventure bike route im going down ,cant decide on that one yet

They don't get much classier, or more classic, than the R100R :thumb

Preferred the looks of the R rather than the Mystic ... much better seat and rear end

I fitted the lower bars of the Mystic to my R, a really usable go anywhere bike. Toured Europe, did the Elephant Rally ... the real one, not the easy peasy one held at der Nürburgring. Twin plugged, gas flowed, WP rear suspension unit, front forks 'sorted' by Ron Williams at Maxton :thumb

I should never have sold it :blast

if i had to be a little critical i wpuld say im not really grabbed by the looks of it but maybe with some soft bags or something i would look different

I agree, I have tried to like the Mystic but just can't because of the looks, really like the R100R though, I nearly bought one recently but decided one airhead is enough.

Yes ... I agree, you would look a little different with a pair of soft bags

I prefer the look of the mystic tbh.

Of course it's a proper airhead. I'd have one if I had the room

I'm curious

Have a good ride before you commit, I was disappointed.

I was impressed :D

Why?
I would have thought that after looking at the bhp and suspension - apart from cosmetics - there wouldn't be much in the difference?
Certainly no big suprises anyway*.

*though i have been known to be occasionally wrong.** :augie
**completely wrong.

Differences between the Mystic and the R100R Marc? ... there are none other than cosmetics. All the running gear is the same, frame, forks, suspension, geometry etc.

They'll not pull any trees up, they're just a middle of the road motorbike, but a lovely bike nonetheless :thumb

Sometimes wish I still had mine, it was well sorted, and when I was looking round a couple of years ago I thought I might get another .... but I'd had one and let it go :nenau

So I bought misen a superb alternative .... a G650 Xcountry :D
Much much lighter and just as quick in the real world, a right real cracker :thumb

As mentioned in the other recent Mystic thread I thought the brakes and suspension were an improvement , comfort was great but the whole package seemed a bit bland, subdued and lacked the character of previous airheads. I bought mine sight unseen but after a few thousand kms knew it wasn't the bike for me. Moorespeed pistons, a head job and a muffler that lets the smoke out more freely and you'd have a nice usable airhead. As always - horses for courses.
