Is there a way to find how old a gs engine would be?

Anyone clued up on the 1250gs engines?
How can you tell how old an engine is? any date stamps on them or would it be higher the engine number the newer it is?

You can get a build date for the bike from a VIN converter if it’s the original engine, I think they build the engines pretty much as they are needed on the production line
