My bike is (hopefully!) in my avatar.

The V5 says red, but its got a silver tank, red beak & red undertray.

Is that a standard paint scheme, or has a previous owner gone for a respray?

Can't quite tell from the small picture but is that an 1150GS Adv tank? Could be that the tank was replaced. The standard bike would be all red.

Did you get this recently? I think I saw one like that on AutoTrader about a month ago.

Yep, got it about 6 weeks ago, from a dealer in Doncaster.

Already managed well over 1000 miles on it and love it to bits!

How do I tell if its an adv tank, rather than standard?

By the sheer size of it! :D Can't find a good picture to show the difference unfortunately. It's probably standard, I just thought it looked a bit like an Adventure tank from the photo. Got any better versions?

Glad you're enjoying the bike. I picked up an 1150 about 3 weeks ago and decided about a week ago that it's the best bike in the world! :beerjug:

here's a bigger photo of the same bike found in a for sale ad - certainly looks like the tank off a R1150GS

I think that an ADV tank. Makes sense and you wil know when you fill it up:augie

Certainly does look like an adventure tank by the width to the underside and the decal. That is a bonus for you. They go for over £300 second hand!

Guys, thanks for all the help :thumb2

It is a bit of an expensive beasty to fill up - regularly takes 25+ litres, so it looks like it is the 31 litre adv tank indeed :beerjug:

Looks like I got a bit of a bargain - Zega panniers, adv tank, wired for aux lights, aftermarket exhaust ...... :clap

Hope you realise that with that set up it is mandatory to go RTW... even though in the past round Tescos car park has been tried by a few...:D
