Is this a bmw engine?

. . radial, near Faha, see they've lifted it off the ground.
Note how the alloy has been corroded away over time.

Some background to the crash here

Crew all survived and spent the rest of the war in the Curragh Internment Camp drinking stout. They were allowed out to go to local dances and the races at the Curragh and also had occasional jollies to Dublin. Could have been worse :D

A good man from Cloghane, John Gill died on Mount Brandon in Aug 2004. He had heart trouble and dropped dead on the top. He and I had worked together on a project here, he was our legal counsel. Fine man who taught me a lot.
By coincidence, Tim Kerryman arranged the Kerry Spring Break the next June and it was then I saw that engine.
Brings back good memories of John and of the Kerry outing.
Covered heaps of ground, with Grumpy 1 at the helm. I never new about the Butter Roads, until then.
