Hey guys

After my last experience with a BMW that used their cantilever system I'm in no hurry to buy another model that uses it.
I'm trying to find out if the BMW R100 R 1992 model uses the cantilever?

Cantilever???? What's one of them?

Do you mean the paralever back end or the telelever front end?

If you mean the paralever back end then all GSs apart from the first R80G/S have them. Almost everyone (apart from Proff :) ) seem to agree that this is better than the old monolever as it reduces the pitch change under braking and acceleration. The R100GS will be a paralever.

If you mean the "funny front end" then that was introduced with the oilhead BMW GSs from the R1100GS onwards. The R100GS has conventional front forks.

Hope this helps.

Just buy the R100GS and enjoy it.:)

Yeah. The paralever, that's it.
Like the one that destroyed itself on the 1992 R 100 GS we had in the UK back in 2005.

I've got a different rear shock/shaft system on my 1984 LS 650. That's lasted 400,000 kms.

Thanks for your help and replies guys, much obliged.
