Hi guys, I'm new and glad to know about this forum. Need a little help if you could.

I own a 2014 R1200GS(LC) and my battery is flat. I've been told by BMW dealer (through e-mail) that I can buy a BOSCH YTX14-BS battery which I ordered through a web store and came. But after removing the original battery (Which is YUASA YTZ14S) I found the dimensions won't fit. Also the capacity/hour grades don't match. BOSCH is 12Ah, Yuasa is 11,2Ah(10H) / 11,8Ah(20H). The box of BOSCH also states that it's for R120GS until year 2013.

There's a thick foam under the original battery which I can pull out easily. I didn't try to fit the new battery to avoid damaging in case I might need to return. But it looks like it may fit. However I can't be sure if the Capacity/Hour value will cause a problem. Please check photos. Do you have an idea? Should I install the new BOSCH battery?

Thanks in advance...

Hi, I'm afraid that was my mistake. Bike laid untouched for several months. I couldn't ride it for a long time (We had a baby )
I removed it off the bike and tried charging it for about 1,5 days (not the original charger) until the light on charger went off. Installed it but it didn't ignite. Though it had front and panel lights&info on. Tried it over for few times within an hour. In the end lights went off as well. So I though it's time to change.

I was too tired (and lazy too :) ) to take it off and note the battery code & dimensions. I trusted my friend who knows the guy at the service well. So my friend asked for me. BMW dealers prices were too high and the guy (as a friendly suggestion) offered this alternative. Just maybe he ignored that my bike is actually the new LC one.

Now I can't be sure of this Ah/H rating. Is it something to damage the electronics on the bike if I install the new BOSCH battery ?

Not sure but I think they put a bigger battery on bikes with an alarm (or something else similar)

If the bit of foam comes out easily and the bettery goes in OK physically then I think it will be fine

XR's have a 8AH battery unless they have an alarm and if so it's 10. If you can get it to psychically fit then it will be fine. The discrepancy between the capacities is small and therefore insignificant.

Is there a big lump of polysterene under the original battery? I think there was on one of my GSs.

Yes there's a thick foam and I can remove it easily. Probably battery will fit when&if I remove the foam.

I am using Yuasa YTX14H-BS on my 15 GSA. You can use YTX14-BS , just take out the foam tray and the battery will fit.

Thank you guys, I'll give a try unless I see a strong opposite thought until tonight. Thx...
