Is this 'another one'. R1250GS and 149Hp

Stumbled over this company located in Germany.
They offer an ECU tuning, and their claim is that the 1250 will be lifted to 149Hp and 159Nm. Premium fuel and full Acra. system.

As a reference.
BHP claims they are able to increase Hp by 3 Hp, and according to Acra. website, a full system will offer another 3 Hp.

Knutk. There is an interesting article in the December issue of 'Bike' which might be of interest in which it highlights the ups and downs of re-mapping ECUs. Lets hope for a sensible debate should we get one :hide :hide
 
Do this and add on the cost of the Akra system and you have to be looking at 2000 plus ….. !

As to reduced heating through optimised combustion ……. Optimised combustion should increase heat generation !

mmm optimal conditions... no load rolling road? bike stripped of any weight? Seems to be magic :D Any decent re mapper will share AFR values. Notice on their graph they are missing

Here is a video from BHP, tuning a 1200.


He clearly show the before and after runs, at WOT as well as at reduced settings. Every thing is well explained, and what he says makes 100% sense and is backed up by the Dyno charts.

Anyway, BHP manage to get out 3 more hp from a 1200. This makes sense. The AFR at WOT is already at 13.0-ish, meaning that most of the oksygen molecules are used, hence, adding even more fuel will do very little. Adding a more open can as well as getting rid of the cat will slightly increase the flow through the cylinder, and there is no longer a need to feed the cat with 'free' oxygen. Adding a bit more fuel allowing for the remaining oxygen to also contribute to the combustion will add a bit of power, thus the 3 hp as mentioned by BHP makes sense.

But 13 hp without doing anything to feed more air into the cylinder? And 159Nm from a 1250, without a turbo? We are talking 12,7Nm/100cc. That is a lot for a normal aspirated engine. KTM 1290 offers 10,7 Nm/100cc, Ducati V4 offers 10,77 Nm/100cc. And these are engine where the manufacturers have made a hefty effort to get out maksimum power. (And it is my guess that both of these engines are well fueled at WOT as well).

I've searched the web, and only been able to find confirmation of their greatness from 'ass-Dynos'. No Dyno runs or charts showing the AFR.
Perhaps I have not searched well enough....:aidan
 
I’m imagining the guys at BMW who designed and developed the 1250 engine going “doh, we could have got another 10% out of it if only we were not so dumb”.

Or not, of course. I suppose they did have to consider emissions, lifetime, warranty, reliability, etc.
