In terms of physical spec - sure. To use the 8gb RAM I'm pretty sure you need 64bit Windows... also, for a no name laptop, drivers could be a pain in the arse.

Personally, unless you really need 8gb of RAM, there are planty of branded, and therefore backed and ready to roll, laptops for around £500 that would likely be far less hassle...

But then maybe I'm just lazy :thumb

A friend, who has now done this twice, (Doesn't learn) decided to upgrade the hard disk & memory if his almost new Toshiba Laptop. He bought massive memory & a new hard disk. Took out old memory & hard disk & binned them. Handed me computer to resolve problems.

I bought a copy of Windows 7 on Ebay, and installed.

The damn thing worked first time, with all drivers, everything properly installed. I could not believe it. I am used to Xp, where all drivers have to be installed afterwards.

Maybe it is a good buy, when you know this.

You shouldn't have too many problems as the specs indicate that that it is a pretty standard Intel Chipset. The specs are relatively low but it makes up for it with a stack of RAM (which in the scheme of things is pretty cheap). The graphics card is an onboard system which, being the Intel HD3000 is not as bad as it sounds (apple MacBook pro's use these in the smaller models and they are known for good graphics ability). Basically, you have a small company putting together machines from generic components. It will not set the world on fire but if you are looking for a reasonable machine for business and pleasure and you are not going to spend hours playing graphics intensive online games, it should be fine.

A 64 bit version of Windows 7 comes with most packets and I would recommend this to take advantage of all that RAM. It should install straight up with no fuss.

Not a bad buy for a basic machine with a few candy's attached. Remember, Asus started out like this.
