Off to Morocco in October and will be there on the 15/16th which I believe is the Eid Al Adna festival.
Can anyone please tell me if this is likely to affect our travel plans and if booking into Riads or Hotels/B&B's would be a problem due to this?

Ok Thanks. Is any of the festival worth seeing?

Yes, but be careful if you don't like seeing the ritual killing a large animal :D

There will be ceremonies and events all over the country.....some will be more for public entertainment but every town and village will have something happening, even if only a livestock market that will be far busier than normal....and they are worth watching :D

If you google "Eid Al Adna Morocco" I'm sure you'll find hundreds of pages and videos etc...add in a city name to the search and you may well find further details and specifics.

Mmm I am no stranger to killing large animals, just not ritually......:D

Just come back from Marrakech.

It does make a difference when Eid Al Adna is on. A lot of the shops and stuff where shut. The plus point for bikers, the petrol stations where open.

Certainly a smell in the air too with all the slaughtering of animals

Normally referred to as Eid el Kbir (big Eid) or the Festival of the Sacrifice it's the equivalent of Christmas in terms of family gatherings and general disruption.

I was in Morocco on 5 October—sheep being slaughtered, skinned and butchered everywhere. Heads being barbequed for the brains, so the smell of scorched hair in the air.

Inter-city traffic was practically zero. Having said that, many cafes were open (especially with Barclays Premier League being shown) and most fuel stations were open. Hotels carry on as usual.
