Lost the clutch and slave a few months back and have just got round to replacing both. Did fuel, air filters plugs etc while I was in there and buttoned her back up.
Went to start and she turned over fine but the fuel pump was not working. Tested pump and it works fine but I´m not getting an earth (brown wire) signal at the bike side of the connector under the tank. Can I run a seperate earth to it or must I do something else. Thanks for your help.
Bike is a 2000 1150gs

erffs

have a look at that connector under the tank possibly corroded, easy to run a seperate earth but don't forget it will need to be detatchable to take the tank off.

The positive was corroded so thats off already. So if I just run a new neg to the neg terminal everything should be hunky dory??

new issue

Now have sprung a leak on the hard plastic fuel lines. I suppose they are about a zillion quid from BMW??
About to start to pull them out. It´s one unit correct?

Can I just remove the offending solid plastic pipe and replace with flexi??

Which plastic pipes are you talking about?.
I presume you mean the fuel pipes running from the distributor/regulator to the injectors.Since you have just changed the clutch, you know that it will be a bugger to change,so if you can fit flexible sections in place of the solid,it will be the easiest option.Remember to use proper clamps though and proper fuel injection quality pipe as the system works at about 40PSI.

Well striped the back off again and yes it is that fuel distributer item. The pipe is split about 1cm from the end. Could I cut off the damaged bit and still feed the pipe on to the remainder? Is fuel injection pipe any different from the fuel pipe we use?

You can splice the hard plastic stuff using the same type of rubber as the rest of the system, its pukka fuel injection stuff, use the proper clips too and its not even a bodge, I got 1 metre of it from Motorworks.
