Can we not just be adults, stop sniping and enjoy the experiences conveyed?
I am not defending anyone, I am merely relating my own experiences that are similar in nature.
If people really do want to punch it out, then I need to set up a proper boxing ring and invite those who are aggrieved in some way, to come and punch it out in 30+c heat and no water, we shall then see who has the fucking minerals.

You post a food pic as some people like them in a trip report , others don’t . Then along comes Wessie to tell you you that your delicious magret du canard is a horse steak and the delicious honey sauce is lumpy ketchup .
Then you tell him it’s duck and he digs out a picture of one he’s had that had crispy skin so was obviously better .
I really don’t fucking care as that is what I was served last night and it was divine .
But what is even funnier is why a sad little fuck like Robbi is on the thread .
He won’t ‘like’ a single post depicting a lovely view or stunning road . Yet if anybody has a pop at me ( which is often obviously
) , up his little thumb pops within seconds .Try it. It’s fun .
Have a pop at me on any thread on any subject in the entire forum and watch his pathetic little thumb pop up within minutes .

It’s a trip report about the trip we’re on . People like me post them as bizarrely some people like to see nice places with accompanying routes and might even be tempted to go visit themselves.
If you know a better road or had a better horse steak and lumpy ketchup then bully for you .
But it’s not relevant here and fucks up the flow , so kindly go do one
So-today , we ride the Route Napoleon then views to Die for followed by the sublime (@Doc
) Col de Rousset then via some balcony roads to the fabulous Hotel Le Marronier in the Vercors . It was @Engineer that first put me on to it , as he did the Hotel Del Oso.He may annoy some of you even more then me but he knows his hotels as well as I know my bikes

That’s (nearly) how the Victorians brought in Japanese knotweed.
If he flicks the side stand out, then stands at the front of the bike and uses the handlebars to lift and then push the bike backwards, he can do it on his own. It’s a good way to reverse any bike into a tight spot, such as a garage.
…. Exactly…. Would love to have a rule that the trip reports are just that. A report of someone’s travel with their pictures and narrative….without interruption or irrelevant comment…. but then that would be Utopia….i agree with @Guru Gora , let the report continue….Trip updates please

Actually its been great so far and for me has encouraged me to think about a similar trip and even on taking the X ADV for a test. Whats not to like…..although now might think twice now about putting anything up by way of a report……
And the snails photo made me think to get the dozen i have in the feeezer out for dinner tonight….Still on my own until Thursday so I can stink of garlic as much as i want…

Like your heavy Pan European (which you didn’t manage to sell) my 1600 has a reverse gear. The earlier models didn’t, so the lift and push method came in very handy, all be it does require quite a bit more confidence than you would need with something a bit easier (and lighter) like a GS or GSA or a sports bike.
I use the same method to reverse my Himalayan into my garage, where I don’t have enough room to walk beside it, to push the bike backwards conventionally.
PS One trick I have never learned, though a friend of mine is good at it, is to stand behind the bike, holding it upright. Then extend your left leg to push the centre stand down to touch the ground. Then pull the bike backwards, to lift it onto the stand. Neat, when done properly; untidy, when not.
But we digress.
